How I have been able to level up fast in Farmville.

Experience points are the only way to level up. You gain them by harvesting crops, working on your neighbors farms, and buying things from the Farmville Market. You only earn money from trees and animals.

I started a new Farmville account to test what I have read. I made sure my farm had a large an area as possible for crop harvesting. I then bought some Farmville cash and planted raspberries. I clicked on the biplane and spent $2 Farm cash to grow them completely. It does not matter whether you use the combine or harvest, plow, and seed, you get the same amount of experience points. You can do this repeatedly. If you have to "unlock" a crop like Columbine, for example, and try to use the Mastery Bonus to get double mastery points, it does NOT give you double the points. Use the Fertilize All to gain more XP when harvesting. Repeating this process leveled me up the quickest even though raspberries give the least experience of all of the crops.

Another thing I did is purchase an "Unwither Ring". This cost me $50.00 in real cash but I did this an part of my experiment. I find that when busy with work and school, I don't plant on my other Farmville account but can plant anything on my account with the Unwither Ring and harvest it when I have time to. I was 16 levels behind my first account and now have surpassed the other account by 6 levels. Ari was at level 32 when I first started, Kim was at 48. Now Ari is at level 58 and Kim at 53. Ari leveled up 26 levels and Kim only leveled up 5 levels for a difference of 21 levels!!!

I created a database for a school project. I ranked the crops by experience. I had to take two screen shots to get everything: (Click to enlarge)

Server Out Of Sync Issue in Farmville When Getting Goods for Fuel

Here's how I reproduced the error (I used to test web applications for Bealls, Inc.).

1. Go into your Crafting Stall in Farmville.
2. Accept the money you earned.
3. Finish your goods.
4. Make new goods.
5. Use the goods you have finished and trade them in for fuel.

Now this is when the problem occurs. Go to your Crafting Stall and select "Get Goods". Get crafting items from 21 friends (this is what I counted when I saw the "Out of Sync with the Server" message. But you will notice that when you are selecting the goods, that they are not appearing in your "Use Goods" box at some point. Shortly after that, if you keep buying goods and they do not show up in your "Use Goods" box, this error message will popup and you click "OK" to the "Out of Sync with the Server" message the page will reload and you STILL will not have your goods. The only workaround I have found so far is to log off facebook and clean your browser's cache (see links on how to do this below).

Close your browser, open it up again and clear the cache. Once the cache is cleared, log back into Facebook, access Farmville, go to your Crafting Stall and buy 6 goods at a time and use them, then buy 6 more goods and use them, etc. This is the only workaround I have been able to find.

Microsoft Internet Explorer Instructions:
IE 8.0 and 7.0:

1. Using Internet Explorer as your browser, open up Internet Explorer 7 or 8.

2. Once open, click on the "Tools" menu at the top of the page.

3. Once tools is open, the "General" tab should open by default. Keep this tab open. If not, make sure the "General" tab is selected.

4. Under "Browsing History" click "Delete"

5. A new window will now pop up. Click "Delete Files" listed in the "Temporary Internet Files" section.

6. Give your computer a minute or two to complete. Once your curser returns to an arrow, click "OK" at the bottom on the window.

7. Your cache should now be clear and will assist in getting you quicker online speeds. You should do this on a weekly basis.

A free program I like is "Privacy Guardian". You can run it to clean everything and for multiple browsers at once. If you do not clean this out of your computer, it stays there unless your Anitvirus program cleans it. I got Privacy Guardian from CNET.com since they always check their downloads for malware (viruses, spyware, rootkits, etc.). If you are using IE 6.0 or lower, I suggest you upgrade to the newer versions which Microsoft regularly supports with upgrades. Having older upgraded programs is bad because hackers exploit unfixed [no upgraded fixes] issues to hack computers.

Google Chrome Instructions:

Apple Safari Instructions:
To clear the cache in Safari:
  1. Open Safari.
  2. From the Safari menu, choose Empty Cache (Safari > Empty Cache).
  3. In the warning dialog that appears, click on Empty.
  4. Visit your site again (by clicking the Visit button in iWeb) or reload the page in Safari.

How to send a gift that is not listed in your Farmville Gifts page - For Collectibles, Horse Stable, Bee Hive, and Nursery Barn

First log into Facebook. Then click on a new tab in your browser. See the highlited pink box (for Firefox browser) below: (Click to enlarge)

Then if you want to give a wooden board and you only have a nail and brick to give you can. Here are the links:

Collectibles:

Horse Stable:

Bee Hive: (see above for wooden board, brick, and nail)

Nursery Barn: (see above for wooden board, brick, and nail)

How to get double of the same gift in Farmville

To do this, access your Farmville page. Click on the "Farmville Requests" link in blue shown in the upper-right hand corner. It is highlited in yellow in the image above. Accept your gifts and send gifts back (so you keep the gift link going). Then go back into your facebook page, click on "Game Requests" and you can accept the same gifts again.

Did you ever notice that you have "expired" gifts and when you click on one to accept it, you see in the address bar at the top: "http://apps.facebook.com/onthefarm/index.php?gifterror=notfound". It leads us to believe that the gift is not found. Log out of Facebook and log back in and the gift should be there.

Farmville Glitches

Super Large Valentine's Castle - Sometimes when you select a crop item from your market in order to maximize mastery point and then select Fertilize All, the Valentine's Castle becomes HUGE. See below: (Click to enlarge)
To get rid of this, simply reload the Farmville page and it should be normal-sized again.

Another glitch is putting certain trees in your orchard makes them huge. Try looking inside the orchard or taking the tree out and putting it back in again.

Ever notice when you are using the "Farmville Requests" link and you accept gifts but the link disappears before you can send the gift back. It seems to be related to the "Special Delivery" link that usually appears behind it shortly after the Farmville Requests loads. To avoid this, close the Farmville Requests window if and /or when it appears after accessing Farmville. Wait for the Special Delivery link to pop up and close it. You should be able to successfully receive and send all of your gifts.

Hurry and Get 550 Christmas Gifts to Get Your Snowy Stallion!!

If you get 550 Christmas gifts you get a Snowy Stallion which u can use to breed horses! Act now before it runs out. Also accept gifts when you open Farmville to play the game first. Then go back to the game requests page from Facebook and accept the SAME gift twice. It's a glitch that Zyna has not figured out or is letting us take advantage of. : )

Once you redeem your gifts for the stallion, you get one to send to a friend. And then you can begin breeding horses. You can learn how to breed horses by checking out this link: Breeding Horses in Farmville. It is ranked with a green check mark on the Norton Safe Search site I posted earlier on this blog.

Be wary of links on Farmville Freak.

Be wary of links on Farmville Freak. Right click on the clink, select "copy link location" then search on Ask.com Norton Safe Search which uses Norton Safe Search as its default. Paste the link in the search bar and click search. You will see a colored circle to the right of it. A green check mark is ok. An orange exclamation point is a caution. A red x is a danger warning. A grey question mark means it has not been rated - click at your own risk. Hover mouse over the colored circle, a little box appears. You can then click on full report and see WHY the page has its rating.

May I add that it is probably a glitch that the folks at Farmville Freak don't know about. I find it to be one of my favorite Farmville information sites.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. There are a lot of crackers (hackers who intend harm) that post bots, tips, and other things to make it "easy" to get money, animals, etc. on Farmville. Don't be fooled or lured in by them. Check out their links. And even that is not 100% safe. Use good judgment. (Click to enlarge)

Facebook Should Be Proactive with Regards to Social Responsibility

Facebook should be socially responsible and not let scammers post applications on Facebook. This is why I only play Farmville. I block all hug requests, who's viewed your profile, best friend, etc. Here's why: Facebook Phishing Scams Your Cellphone.
This is why I do not accept hugs, best friend, horoscope, etc. applications. I play Farmville and 1 or 2 other games from reputable companies that have a staff of developers, application testers, penetration testers (ethical hackers), and provide regular updates to ensure our safety.

Cannot Get into Farmville

I went to Farmville.com and could not play the game but at least got an error message. This was due to a hacker using what is called "DNS Cache Poisoning". I notices that the Adobe Shockwave player crashed. I use Firefox, which is great for checking for updates on Add-Ons and Extensions. I clicked on "Tools" and then selected "Add Ons" in the Firefox Menu at the top. I clicked on the "Add Ons" icon and then selected the "Find Updates" button in the lower right-hand corner (see below). (Click to enlarge)

This is important to do weekly since hackers often take advantage of exploits in Adobe to execute their malicious strategies. Did you ever wonder why McAfee is also downloaded any time you update Adobe Flash, Shockwave, or Acrobat??? Apparently they must have a lot of vulnerabilities in their programs' code.
Once I did this, Farmville loaded perfectly.

Dangerous Black Stallion Scam!

There is a dangerous scam going around regarding the unreleased black stallion. People unknowingly post these links on their Facebook page. Well, I ALMOST fell for this one but I saw some clues that it was fake.

I clicked on the link and the first thing it asked me was to select that I “liked” the page, which I did.

Then it said to send the page to 40 friends.  I began to get skeptical but my desire for the black stallion overran my doubt. I clicked on the link so I could select my friends to send it to and it brought me back to the SAME page I was on.  That was a RED FLAG.

Then they had a link “click here to send it to your friends faster”. I clicked the link and it came up with Javascript code.  It told me to copy and paste this code into my browser’s address window (where www.facebook.com is). I did not understand the Javascript code but knew that the “get” statements were referring to an entire address book.  BUT there were other variables (e.g. “y”) that could have been defined as passwords.

Any time code is pasted into an area on a website that will receive information that is typed, it is called an “Injection”. In this case, that code is called “Javascript Injection”.  This make it very dangerous to use because it will extract information from Facebook’s cache servers.

If you have any doubts about a site, send me the link and I will evaluate it for you.

Firefox Browser and Farmville Problems

People are telling me that Firefox is very slow when accepting Farmville gifts or rewards from their Wall. Here is my response:

I think its Zynga's fault. They release too many items onto the Production (Live Game) servers before adequately testing them on the QA Servers AND on multiple browsers! I get messages every so often that Farmville is updating. I love the game but really hate the bugs. Firefox works ok with other games so that rules them out for me.

If Firefox is slowed down in all of the games then I would update Firefox, make sure you have the updates for add ons. To do this, click Tools (on the Firefox menu), then click Add Ons, then make sure the PlugIns Tab is selected. At the bottom of the popup box, is a button that says "Find Updates".

If this fails, run a Sypware Detector program such as Windows Defender. Spyware will slow down Internet browsing. If you have any questions on using spyware detection prorams, you can post to this message. I check this every day or two for responses so I can be timely in my response. Other Spyware Detection Programs I like are Ad Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Malware Bytes. But you have to remove any programs that may be causing the spyware issues (if applicable) first before quarantining any malware with the Spyware Detection program. You will see a path showing where each file is which will allow you to determine if the spyware detected is part of a program.  It will look similar to C:\Program Files\[Name of Program} or C:\Users\...with the program files foler selected. Write down all of the offending programs. Close the Spyware Detection program WIHOUT removing/quarantining the files it found. Uninstall the programs through the Windows Control Panel THEN rerun the Spyware Detection program, You can then quarantine all of the offending items. Once completed restart your computer. This will make a big difference if spyware is the cause of the slow response in Firefox.

If you need to update the Firefox browser, which I recommend (usually Firefox does this automatically but if you are having issues, this may help). To do this, click "Help" then click on "Check for Updates" and follow the prompts.

I like this website. It's clean and fresh looking. But the best part is that you can calculate your profitability on various crops. Farmville Statistics

Co-op Farming in Farmville

I was the last to finish the job and got the Gold Ribbon as well as the prize. This star comes up to let you know you earned it.

There are some things you should know about co-op farming when playing Farmville:

1. You should plant when there are seeds left to plant.

2. To join a job after all the seeds have been planted is called "Mooching". I have seen my fellow Farmvillers complain about that and actually delete the offender as a friend (nevermind neighbor).

3. If you really want the prize offered, post when the co-op box asks you if you want to invite others. Write in the box that you are looking for people who want the gold prize. You will get them. I also learned the hard way not to keep emailing the same group of people to ask if they want to join your next job.

4. Pick a crop that you know you can plant and harvest in time.                   and

5. Do not plant twice. I found that I ran out of time and ruined it for getting the gold for my team. This is especially true for the Morning Glories.
