How to Breed a Ram in Farmville

I have this addiction to the sheep breeding. Be careful or you may too! I have bred 40 sheep since the introduction of the English Countryside. Aside from Brutus, the first ram I got on the quest (we all get him), I have bred 8 rams. I DIDN'T use the love potion twice and waited 24 hours and did not get a sheep (so much for the 50% chance).

This means I have used ALL 5 LOVE POTIONS each time I breed which figures out to be a RAM FOR EVERY FIVE SHEEP BRED. You can ask for love potions every 4 hours. Otherwise, you have to purchase them with Farmville Dollars. Here is the inside of my pen. (Click image to enlarge)
Here is a screenshot of the sheep not in my pen: (Click image to enlarge)
I did not count the sheep I purchased or redeemed (i.e. Scary Ewe from Halloween Candy Basket). Bottom line, if you want to breed 1 Ram for every 5 sheep. You have to breed using ALL of the love potions (100% chance and instant grow, for lack of a better word) FIVE times before you get a ram. Being a programmer, I know that everything follows an algorithm. I think the programming statement must be similar to:

     If(sheepBred = 5) Then
          LambGrown = Ram;
     Elseif
          LambGrown = Ewe;

Nice! I just published this about 5 minutes ago and this link is already #4 on Google. Stoked!!! (Click to enlarge)

  2. Well for the Dark Purple with Polka Dots, you didn't mention what color polka dots. I found if I use a ram or ewe with polka dots, polka dots seems to be the dominant gene, as a rule. (4 out of 5 times). Try using Brutus the Ram (or a purple/dakr purple ram) and a polka dotted ewe.

    I got a black sheep from breeding Black Ram with Purple Dots and a Pink Ewe.

    Good luck! Let me know what sheep results you get!

  4. I am not sure Anonymous. I have seen some sites publish that there is a ram born every fourth time you breed sheep. I don't know you so I am not sure if you are bluffing but I am giving you the benefit of the doubt.

  5. Can you tell me how you got the black ram with polka dots? And any luck on a star sheep yet? I'm seeing them fly around FB, but no one is letting up on what they've bred to get them and I think they've just gone viral, ie., friends letting friends adopt one.

  6. Stephanie, I have not received a sheep with stars yet. You are right, it is going viral. I am hoping to get one from one of my friends. Unfortunately, for the black ram with the dots, I didn't track that. I started tracking later. Sorry! :(

  8. zynga official statement is that if you bred same gender 3 in a row, 4th is the other.
    i have had better results for rams starting breeding with the ewe and then ram.

    tip for patterned sheeps: if you get star pattern sheep, try breeding it with one color ram, eg. if you got blue ram with brutus + some sheep, use that blue ram with star sheep and you may get a star ram.

  9. How are people getting the star sheep, other than someone giving them one? they must start from somewhere....

  10. I wish I knew!!! I have asked several people and no one knows. I wonder if Zynga has people who play and give us this stuff without us knowing they are with Zynga!

  11. You have to have the Disco Sheep that was sold in the Market around New Years to get the Star sheep...

  12. I don't think this is necessarily true because I have bread 13 rams and only 11 ewes. I've used 5 love potions for all except maybe 2-3, for which I used 4 and had to wait one hour.

  13. I got two Rams in a row today! so i'm not counting on the ewe/ram pattern..;-)

  14. I don't want to buy a ram or ewe with the dots or stars and can find one on the news feed to get one, any sugestions? I think 12 FC is just too much for that? Natasha

  15. You are not the only one. I noticed there are quite a few players who feel they should not have to purchase sheep in order to make sheep. I know Zynga looks at this as a money maker for them. I would hope they eventually let people buy sheep to start breeding with using coins and not Farmville Cash. I agree with you! (even though I spent some money - in order to make my sheep breeding guide)

  16. I bred using a Disco Sheep and a spotty ram - I got a plain grey sheep. I've also just tried breeding striped ram with various sheep and I'm just getting plain sheep as a result. Yet FV itself, on it's "How Do I Use this?" guide (accessed from inside the sheep pen) says that if you breed x colour sheep with y patterned ram, you should get a sheep with x background colour and y pattern. Come on FV - play by your own rules!!
